Fear, Trust, & the Sociology of Pandemics

By | 30th June 2022

I am not a member of Collateral Global, but they were sufficiently interested in what a sociologist might have to say about pandemics as to invite me to be interviewed by Jennie Bristow, another UK sociologist, on their behalf. We discussed the role of the historical and sociological imagination in making sense of the past two years, and where sociology could have done more to put fear into context. Be advised it is a fairly lengthy interview – and you may feel that it is 75 minutes of your life that you will never get back – but itwas a chance to explore sociological material in some depth.
